International Applicants


Application Deadline for 2010 - 2011 Academic Year is January 15, 2010.

Must Complete Summer Foundations Courses.

Waiver for appropriate Foundation Courses will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis for students with Architectural and Civil Engineering backgrounds, or extensive field experience. Such an accommodation should be requested in writing to the Admin Support Specialist, via e-mail at thaxtrk@auburn.edu.

Students without undergraduate degrees in construction education, and possessing extraordinary academic credentials, may be allowed to begin the MBC program in the fall semester.

Application Process for International Students

  1. First, please visit Global Gateway, Auburn University's International Presence. Then, review the information contained on the Graduate School's web site for International Admissions, and information from the Office of International Education.
  2. Visit the Graduate School's website, select Apply Online from the menu to the left, and click on E-application. You will be redirected to Banner Self Service, the University's online system. You will need to select "First Time User Account Creation", and create a username and pin number. Once you log in, you will be asked to complete several sections. Please select the correct term for which you are applying (Summer for non-construction undergraduates, Fall for construction undergraduates), choosing Building Science -Construction from the drop down menu as your program option.

    In addition to completing this online application, be sure to read the information provided in the link entitled "Admissions Requirements". This link gives very specific information regard ing documentation which must be provided as part of the application process.
  3. Request certified copies of transcripts from all previously attended educational institutions, and have them sent directly to the Graduate School at 106 Hargis Hall, Auburn University, AL 36849 .
  4. Request official copies of your GRE scores from the Educational Testing Service and have them sent to the Graduate School as well.
  5. Provide letters of recommendation from three references to the School of Building Science. E-mail the letter of recommendation (click here for form) to your references with instructions to e-mail back to thaxtrk@auburn.edu. Instructions for completion are included on the form.
  6. Submit (via e-mail) a Statement of Purpose (1500 words or less) explaining your motivation for seeking a graduate degree in Building Construction at Auburn University.

Financial Sponsorship

The ESTIMATED TOTAL COST in the U.S. currency for attending Auburn University for one year, 2008-2009, is $34,395.

The ESTIMATED TOTAL COST in the U.S. currency for attending Auburn University for one year, 2009-2010, is $36,197.

--We regret that the Graduate School has no funds for scholarships or fellowships and cannot guarantee any form of financial aid.

--Address inquiries concerning other forms of financial aid to the head of the department in which you wish to major.

--Applicants MUST DEMONSTRATE the availability of adequate financial resources to meet personal and educational obligations. The properly completed "Official Statement of Finances" accompanied by certified evidence of your sponsor's financial capability MUST BE filed with this office before an admission letter and your 1-20 Form can be released.
