Jay has interest in urban & regional planning, real estate and GIS field. He has 14 years of professional experience in private consulting, research and academic settings. Before Auburn, he taught at the University of Cincinnati in its School of Planning and in the Real Estate department at the Carl Lindner College of Business there. While pursuing his PhD, he worked with Colliers Turley Martin Tucker - a commercial real estate firm in Cincinnati and helped in the GIS based real estate research services; he also worked with the City of Cincinnati & the Hamilton County’s GIS department (CAGIS) and with a Cincinnati based law firm - Manley Burke LLP .

Prior to coming to the United States, he worked in India for 8 years on city planning and real estate projects. He was involved in strategic plans for three cities and was a core team member in two USAID funded Inner city revitalization plans, which received UNCHS Global best practices award. He had a significant role in a statutory urban development plan for a 5 million population metropolitan area of Ahmadabad especially, in its road network planning, phasing of new development and in alignment planning of a 48 mile long ring road. He was a Project coordinator for a coastal regional development plan for 46 villages and prepared livelihood generation and economic development plan for the region. On real estate front, he has conducted real estate feasibility studies for two Hotel properties, led a 4000-Acre industrial area master plan, and conceptualized a private real estate Academy (RESMA) offering certificate courses in India.

His research interests include urban spatial structures, land markets & housing, real estate advisory (location suitability, market research and feasibility studies), and metropolitan level general plans both in US and in India.
