AUBURN BUILDING SCIENCE STUDENTS AWARDED IN NATIONAL COMPETITION

Auburn, Ala. –A team of students from the nationally recognized building science program in Auburn University’s College of Architecture, Design and Construction placed 2nd overall in the 2005 Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Convention held February 19-22 at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. The 55th annual convention included a competition of students from 25 of the country’s top college and university construction management programs.

Students Volunteer With the Young Constructors Forum of the AGC to Help Build a Playground in Vestavia, Alabama. This "community build" was the first in Birmingham. Students helped along with about 200 other volunteers to construct a playground at Vestavia West Elementary School. The playground will house a climbing wall among many other fun pieces of play equipment.

Memorial Service for Sambo Mockbee

Auburn University Professor Samuel "Sambo" Mockbee, an internationally acclaimed architect who devoted his career to 'social architecture', died Dec. 30, 2001, in a Mississippi hospital. He was 57. A memorial service was held on Friday, Feb 9th in his honor.
