International Applicants

Must Complete Summer Foundations Courses.
Waiver for appropriate Foundation Courses will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis for students with Architectural and Civil Engineering backgrounds, or extensive field experience. Such an accommodation should be requested in writing to the Admin Support Specialist, via e-mail at thaxtrk@auburn.edu.
Students without undergraduate degrees in construction education, and possessing extraordinary academic credentials, may be allowed to begin the MBC program in the fall semester.
Application Process for International Students
- First, please visit Global Gateway, Auburn University's International Presence. Then, review the information contained on the Graduate School's web site for International Admissions, and information from the Office of International Education.
- Apply online through the Graduate School Graduate Web Application and Admission Process. Select "Building Science - Construction (BSCIC)" from the drop down menu at the beginning of the application. You will be applying for admission for Summer term 2008. In addition to completing the application, be sure to read the information provided in the link entitled "General Admission Requirements". This link gives very specific information regarding documentation which must be provided as part of the application process.
Financial Sponsorship (taken from the Graduate School web site, as of Fall 2007)
The ESTIMATED TOTAL COST in the U.S. currency for attending Auburn University for one full year 2006-2007 (12 months) is $31,407.
--We regret that the Graduate School has no funds for scholarships or fellowships and cannot guarantee any form of financial aid.
--Address inquiries concerning other forms of financial aid to the head of the school in which you wish to major.
--Applicants MUST DEMONSTRATE the availability of adequate financial resources to meet personal and educational obligations. The properly completed "Official Statement of Finances" accompanied by certified evidence of your sponsor's financial capability MUST BE filed with this office before an admission letter and your I-20 Form can be released.
Please contact the Graduate School or Office of International Education for further information on costs. - Have your official transcript(s), GRE, TOEFL scores, Official Statement of Finances, and any other documents required by the Graduate School forwarded directly to the Graduate School.
Submit the following to the School of Building Science to the attention of the Admin Support Specialist: (do not mail these documents to the Graduate School):
- Letters of recommendation from three sources. Print 3 copies of this form from the web site, then provide each of the three sources with a form letter, along with a pre-addressed, stamped envelope addressed to Ramona Thaxton, School of Building Science, 118 M. Miller Gorrie Center, 270 W. Samford Avenue, Auburn University, AL 36849-5315. In addition to completing the form letter, each source should write a letter on their own company or university letterhead, and enclose both documents in the envelope, with the respondent's signature across the seal.
- A current one-page resume, which may be mailed to the address above. A digital copy is preferred, in Microsoft Word format, and may be e-mailed to Ramona Thaxton at thaxtrk@auburn.edu.
- Statement of purpose (1500 words or less) explaining your motivation for seeking a graduate degree in Building Construction at Auburn University.

English as a Second Language Program
The English as a Second Language Program is offering an International Student English Center (ISEC) for international graduate students. This center is devoted to writing consultations for all disciplines. The center offers workshops, small group writing consultations, and one-on-one writing sessions all by appointment only.
