Teaching Assistantships
Each academic year, the School of Building Science offers several Graduate Teaching Assistantships, assigned by the School Head. Normally, assistantships will be awarded by mid-summer, with GTAs being notified of their faculty supervisor at that time, and employment beginning each Fall. Awards are based collectively on the applicant's overall GPA, test scores, construction experience, and research or teaching expertise required by the assignment.
Assistantships may be from one to three semesters in length, but are usually for Fall and Spring semesters only. While employed by the School of Building Science as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, the student must follow the policies and procedures for Graduate Teaching Assistants as outlined in the Graduate Assistant Handbook and published on the Graduate School web site.
As a demonstration of its commitment to graduate education and to the critical role that graduate assistants play in supporting the university's research and teaching missions, Auburn University provides in-state tuition fellowships to its graduate teaching assistants and a subset of its graduate research assistants who meet minimum requirements.
