Two AU adjunct professors, Brian Barrett and Chris Engel in the College of Architecture, Design and Construction, were named recently to the Birmingham Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40 for their work with the college’s Urban Studio. The two have worked with the Urban Studio over the last few years, participating in the student internship program, sitting on juries and project reviews, and teaching seminars and studio with a team of other professionals. Engel was a student of the Urban Studio in the early 1990s and is currently department head and director of design with Goodwyn Mills and Caywood Inc. Barrett is principal architect with Garrison Barrett Group Inc. The Top 40 Under 40 recognizes the best and brightest rising stars in the Birmingham area who have made contributions both in the business world and the community.
