Auburn's Rural Studio is a non-profit organization, which means that we operate solely on grants and donations. The Rural Studio has a long and rich history of collaboration with the local community in Hale County and in particular with the town of Akron. We have met with and are collaborating with the following organizations to bring this project together:

  • TOWN OF AKRON - Donating vacant building and land adjacent to the building Paying for maintenance, power, water, salary of individuals running center
  • W.A.P.D.C. West Alabama Planning and Development Council - Caroline Chandler-program director- Meal Program - Provide nutritionist selected meals- 5 days a week -Volunteers to run meal programs -Programs teaching seniors about legal assistance, financing assets, health programs
  • W.A.P.T. West Alabama Public Transportation- -Providing transportation for seniors to and from Center -Delivering meals to homebound senior citizens
  • H.E.R.O. Hale Empowerment and Revitalization Organization, Family Resource Center -Incorporates Medical Van program for medical needs of seniors -Provides medical needs for seniors at center
  • A.A.A. Area Agency on Aging - Working in conjunction with W.A.P.D.C. to aid in programs at the senior center.
  • A.C.L. Akron Community Leaders -This organization is run by individuals from the coummunity that help in organizing community functions and activities.
