Auburn University has implemented several policies designed to ensure the continued safety of guests at University events held in the Stadium and the Coliseum. Increased security is the focal point in the new entrance procedures. Guests will be permitted to bring small cameras (including small video cameras - no tripods or stands ), small purses or equivalent handbags into the Coliseum. Items that are prohibited in the Coliseum include backpacks, umbrellas, coolers, alcohol, weapons and wrapped gifts . Guests are urged to arrive early to the ceremony and to limit the items they bring with them. Law enforcement personnel will search/screen all items that are brought into the Coliseum, including purses, camera bags, strollers, diaper bags and ambulatory assistance devices (wheel chairs, crutches, canes, etc.).
See the Commencement Website for more information.
Jennifer Bonner, Mary Beth Maness, Nathan Orrison and Anthony Tindill (currently) a Design-Build Masters student in the College of Architecture Design and Construction) have received a Commendation Award from Architectural Review Magazine for Emerging Architecture. The team won the award for the Pavilion at Perry Lakes which they designed and built for their undergraduate thesis while at the Rural Studio. The team gathered in London several weeks ago to receive the award. Photos and drawings of the building are published in the December 2005 issue of Architectural Review.
The AR Awards for Emerging Architecture is the biggest and best award for young architects in the world and gives £10,000 in prize money. Inaugurated in 1999, the award was conceived by The Architectural Review and d line, the distinguished Danish architectural design firm. It is now supported by Buro Happold. Intended to bring wider international recognition to a talented new generation of architects and designers, last year the competition attracted more than 700 entries from nearly 60 countries, representing every inhabited continent.
Awards are for built or manufactured work only, and besides buildings, the full range of design activity, from landscapes and urban spaces to furniture and cutlery can be submitted.
The Jury for 2005 was Annette Gigon (Gigon/Guyer Architects, Zurich), Sean Godsell (Australia), Luis Mansilla (Mansilla & Tuñon, Madrid), Peter Davey (Former Editor of The Architectural Review) and Paul Finch (Editor of The Architectural Review and Chairman).
