The Design Habitat studio directed by Professor David Hinson set the prefabricated modules for the house in Greensboro yesterday. They also made progress on the site built center section and will be looking to conclude construction in a week. Thanks to Pam Dorr Director of the Greensboro Housing Resource Center and to the new Greensboro Chapter of Habitat for Humanity for their partnership in this important project.

The birds of Perry Lakes Park & the Auburn University School of Architecture Rural Studio invite you to the Grand Opening of the 100 ft. Canopy Tower. Ceremonies begin at 4pm on Saturday April 22nd, 2006 at the Tower. It is located in Perry Lakes Park, north west of Marion Alabama. Cajun cusine, music and fun provided.

CADC Awards Seed Grants

Each year the College of Architecture Design and Construction awards Seed Grants to jump-start faculty research projects. Congratulations to Michael Clay, Assistant Professor of Community Planning, David Pearson, Assistant Professor of Landscape Architecture, and Sonia Dumpelmann, Assistant Professor of Landscape Architecture for their award of a Seed Grant for 2006/07.

Professor Clay’s proposal, “Creating an Urban Policy Analysis Tool for the Montgomery MPO” was awarded $15,000. Professor Pearson’s proposal, “Testing Grounds: The McClellan Design Laboratory” was awarded $19,650. Professor Dumpelmann’s proposal, “The Park International : National Traditions and International Exchange in the History of Parks and Gardens in the 19th and 20th Centuries” was awarded $15,000.

A distinguished panel of faculty reviewed proposals from all three units in the College. Thanks to all faculty who submitted and congratulations to the awardees.
