Where you are from is as important as where you are. It is easy to forget that you are somewhere and not anywhere,… someone not anyone. It seems to me that David Wilson former Vice President for Outreach at Auburn, and the School of Architectures Distinguished Service Award honoree for 2005 has helped us all realize the importance of this. He knows where he is from and knows where he is and furthermore he helps us understand where we are and hence a little bit more about who we are. |inline

In 2000 graphic designer John Bielenberg saw Sambo Mockbee speak about the Rural Studio and thought, “why isn’t there anything like this for graphic design.” In 2001 he founded Project M, The Bielenberg Institute at the Edge of the Earth in Belfast Maine. Projects M’s purpose is to “inspire young graphic designers, writers, photographers and filmmakers by proving that their work can have a positive and significant impact on the world.” |inline

Each year the 4th year architecture students compete in a portfolio competition sponsored by Pella Windows. This year’s competition was juried by Kim Chamness, Associate Principle and “Green Leader” at Perkins + Will, along with Margaret Fletcher, Architect with Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects. |inline
