In response to Version I, in 2005 the Rural Studio opened the Outreach program up to specifically design orientated Graduates, with the expectation of enhancing the design possibilities for the 20k house. The decision seemed to work, Version II is undoubtedly more beautiful but the client loses quite a lot of real estate!

Conceptually very simple, in the form of a shot gun house, Version II is essentially one room, with very large generous front and back porches. It reduces the number of internal partitions and consolidates the services into one wall. The attic is also vented along its length. Structurally all the wood dimensions are pared down to their minimum and the classic platform-frame construction sits on 8 simple concrete footings.

New owner Frank Harris, who was given the house, enjoys his home but is confused by the lack of partition walls.
