Having secured $190,000 from the HUD to refurbish their new Headquarters, a building that originally housed a school, the Rural Heritage Foundation bravely invited the Rural Studio to design, manage and construct a new vision for their building. Completed over 3 years and 2 phases the Rural Heritage Center is the largest and most complex project ever undertaken by the Rural Studio.
Phase 1 consisted of the "modernist glass-box" gift shop and gallery space.
Phase 2 consisted of significant landscape modifications including the provision of parking, the rebuilding of the exterior envelope and a large, very bold sign with an adjoining stage for outdoor community performances.
