So one of the biggest decisions came last week when we decided to switch the color of our roof from the rustic red to the copper penny. It has moved pretty quickly, and thanks to first year help the decks have been completed as well. Preparing for pig roast has pushed all the teams into a working frenzy. The likelihood of all the teams finishing is very slim, but we are aiming at completing the exterior for Saturday’s Pig Roast.

After a slow start back from spring break, the bridge house house been moving along. The roof trusses went up in a day, as well as roof framing. Nailers and OSB are completed with pictures soon. The team got some help doing the house wrap and will continue to shoot for the opening on May 3rd. [the 500th annual Pig Roast, no not really]

after a long wait, the bridge house finally has truss walls. Bobby [wildman] the crane operator, quietly maneuvered the trusses into place, and with the help of fellow thesis, and lions park surfaces, we were able to brace and secure the trusses into the columns and saddle plates. We are still amazed that the 7 and 1/4 truss fit into a 7 and 1/8 plate. [thickness of metal made our truss grow, but hey no need for shim plates that we ordered] But it was perfect. Drew Merkle was quoted as saying, “this is the greatest moment of my architectural education.” watching those walls go up, and seeing the bridge house come to life, its hard to argue.
