Little Bit of Everything

Well, where does one begin? Today started out with the usual ‘Redbarn Task Delegation Meeting’ or RTDM. Everyone was assigned a job for the day. Nick W, Jamie, Candace, Walker, and Cameron ventured to the new site and continued to sort out the rotted members of the church and measured them for the eventual ordering of new materials. This same task force also examined the arches for damage, studied their design so we can eventually rebuild them once the damage is corrected. The office team consisted of Adam, Chris, Christine, Nick B and Golpar; whom worked on CAD drawings, orders or the important material for tomorrow’s meeting with the committee. The remaining folks (John, Eric, Fuller, Frany, Sarah, Erin and I, Bill) lended a hand at the up-and-coming Lions Park thesis project located outside of Greensboro. We began by spreading sand on the baseball fields to level out all the holes and dips, following this activity we rid the fields’ dirt portions of excess loose dirt via shovel and wheelbarrow. However, in order to have loose dirt, the areas had to be dragged with a drag. Said drag was pulled by tractor, mule or four wheeler - this was actually somewhat enjoyable if you were driving. The 2nd Year Lions Park detail finished up the day by continuing to rid the dirt of excess dirt, since we wanted that fresh, clean look on the fields. Fast forward to dinner; where we were graced with the presence of visitors from Sweden. Some were 2nd year architecture students like us; they are currently on a 2 week tour of the states and stopped by for Rural Studio tour. They were very interested in the Rural Studio as a whole.
